Bridie Watt is an Artist, Secondary Art Teacher, Uni Tutor and mother who has been exhibiting her work in various galleries, shops, markets and street corners…

Bridie mainly works as a painter but also uses mixed media; her paintings often feature birds and plant life, which is a constant source of inspiration.
I enjoy the colour and organic lines and shapes found in nature. The images are often metaphors of my life with the colours generating particular emotions.

I am also inspired by many other artists and artistic periods, Frida Kahlo, Mirka Mora, Kandinsky, The Impressionists, The Expressionists and post modern street Art just to name a few. I paint onto canvas and board and I often use vintage frames, which also gives my work a unique style.

I have exhibited in most of the galleries in Newcastle however in the last few years I have chose a space and through self-promotion created a temporary exhibition. My last show was at Suspension Expresso in Beaumont Street, which was great as people viewed the work constantly.

I have also been involved in commercial mural commissions for businesses. I have worked on a number of commissions and am open to more orders for 2012.

I also show new work at the Olive Tree Market but not every month and yearly at the Art Bazaar. I am currently working on a web site and facebook page. I am currently working at home from the kitchen table whilst I make a family!
