Ellen Howell
I have been a Graphic Artist and Designer for 30 plus years. I now have time to dedicate myself to “art for art’s sake” rather than working to someones brief.
I love linework. The quick sketch or line that is simple but portrays so much.
I have worked in watercolour, digital, acrylic, gouache, graphite, charcoal and pastels. I continue to learn techniques and methods.
I would like people to feel a sense of joy when they see my artwork. I don’t want to draw a techniquely perfect Magpie, I want to portray the movement, the cheekiness and arrogance that is the Magpie. I don’t want to create botanical drawings I want to show the colour and chaos that linger in your memory when you appreciate nature.
If I could find a way to have my work give you the sensation of smell I would.
I am working on a series based on photographs I have taken at Upper Allyn and the Barrington National Park.
