Leah Fawthrop

Leah studied Fine Art at the College of Fine Arts NSW graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Photomedia, and also studied an Associate Diploma in Fine Art at the Hunter Street Art School.

Having four years of full time art practice was a privilege that I hope to re-visit one day, as you are able to submerse yourself in the ideas and concepts of your artwork and indulge yourself with being a prolific artist to perfect your craft and ideas to beautiful art works that have both meaning an aesthetic.

I have been working on the idea of beauty and what we will do to attain perfection for some time, and many of my artworks are filled with that subject matter in a variety of mediums and styles.

I was also experimenting with flowers and foliage with the idea of capturing beauty in a unique way when a plant can be at its peak. After much perfecting of technique and playing with the darkroom and photographic paper, I developed a body of work that I was happy with. Called ‘Modern Nature’ I also produced a series using a scanner and the computer. I hope you like my work and see the Artistry and beauty in each individual work.

I have been in several group exhibitions and one solo and one day will pursue more exhibitions. Currently I’m involved with the Art Bazaar and HAN which keeps me very busy.

Leah Fawthrop is now a full time Mum to a lovely little boy and only gets to dabble in her Art practice as life dictates. But I do love it when I can.
