Lisa Wiseman
I live in a scenic part of the Hunter, surrounded by hills and forest, so my work is heavily influenced by my surroundings, tempered by a healthy dose of the practical and enlivened by my inability to resist touches of whimsy.
Mythology, stories and folklore often inspire, from sources as disparate as, say, the Greek pantheon, Norse legends and Dr Seuss.
Trained in the visual arts at Newcastle TAFE, I work in a variety of media, including mixed media works on paper as well as Freeform crochet.
I enjoy pushing the boundaries of crochet, producing often vivid works which range from exotic headgear to large art garments which defy classification.
My contribution to making the world a more interesting place is putting more wild hats on more happy heads.
