HOW ALL MY ARTY WORK GOT STARTED

I was initially inspired by my father Reginald Stubbs, he was a display craftsman who taught silk-screening & signwriting at Ultimo in Sydney. Leaving school I entered the fashion industry where I worked for Haute Coutour Fashion designer Beril Jents for eight years. Before leaving Sydney I had lessons with Landscape Artist Ronald Peters.

My husband and I bought a Caravan Park, moved our family to Karuah in 1973 where I had a small gallery. In 1985 I established Robyn L’s Leather Creations a shop in Maitland, designing and making leather clothing from leather wedding gowns to motorbike racing leathers. In 1989 my husband David started a rose farm.

I closed my leather shop in 1992 and started experimenting drying roses. I wanted to dry flowers so, when dry they don’t lose any size. (NOT freezing drying). I had done the commercial floristry course at Tafe, so we opened a florist shop at the farm. When doing Brides Bouquet’s I was often asked about preserving them. That is when I started 3 Dimensional Bouquet Preservation. One thing leads to another. Drying the flowers started me turning the flowers into Art in a frame. Now I am creating 3D Flower Art, some are for indoors and others” OUTDOOR “ (these can be hosed off).

Now retired I keep busy designing and making Leather Bags, Backpacks, Hats, Caps etc. I paint landscapes with Oil and acrylic (sometimes on leather). And anything else I can think of creating. Like Horse Portraits (from your photo).
