Exhibiting in the Women’s Cells, Gareth Graham continues his examination of the human form through his marble sculptures. Departing from his Huon Pine sculptures, in which he has exhibited previously at The Lock Up in 2008, Graham explores the ancient marble from Carrara, Italy. Where, after winning the Jennie Thomas Travelling Scholarship, Graham revisited to hone his skills.

Pushing the boundaries of digital art Naomi Oliver, will be exploring the notion of emotions being stored, expressed and experienced by the body through weightlessness, in which she will produce during her stay in Newcastle.

NAOMI OLIVER

Concentrating on the body’s movement, Artist in Resident, Naomi Oliver’s works stretch the boundaries of digital art. Exploring Newcastle and The Lock Up, Oliver will be producing video and audio based works exploring the energy and emotions left behind inhabited and abandoned spaces, as well as exploring the bodies suppressed and experienced emotional state through weightlessness.

Since completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts – Honours, Oliver has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally and is half of the creative duo Motel Sisters with fellow Western Sydney artist, Liam Benson.

Naomi Oliver will be exhibiting her video and audio installations throughout the Men’s cells until 30 OCTOBER.
