HAN will be holding an Art Bazaar each season at different Hunter Valley venues. The December Civic Park event will remain on the first Saturday of the month, however the 3 new events will occur on the 2nd Sunday of their respective months.

About Art Bazaar

The Hunter Arts Network (HAN) strives to promote professionalism and maintain the high standard of art works on offer at Art Bazaar, and encourage emerging Artists to take the opportunity to present their talent.

Over the last 8 years ART BAZAAR has become a highly anticipated event for both the public and the participating stallholders. It has stimulated the arts community and increased public awareness of the Hunter’s diverse artistic culture, successfully displaying the many individuals, groups, organisations and businesses.

The Market also represents an excellent opportunity for practitioners and organisations to develop professional networks which support the development of new work, broader audiences and marketing opportunities – all of which align directly with the objectives of HAN.

This is a tremendous opportunity for participants to market their work to a large audience at a time of year when this audience is really “in the mood” to buy!

Note that you must be a current member of HAN to apply for Art Bazaar. You can apply for membership online and pay by direct debit. To participate you will need to fill out the on-line Application Form including uploading up to 4 photographs representative of your work, or print the form (at the end of the Information Pack) and return it via post with 4 photographs of your work.

Note to previous stallholders: December 2011 stallholders do not need to go through the full application/approval process again – just email Leah at artbazaar@hunterartsnetwork.org and indicate you would like to take a stall at the March 2012 event.

Please join us at Back to Back Galleries (57 Bull St, Cooks Hill) , on Friday January 27th 2012 at 6pm for the opening of Anything Goes an exhibition of work by ceramic students at the Hunter TAFE and the University of Newcastle. Be inspired by the creativity and new directions being taken by our newest local ceramic artists.

Opening: 6pm Friday January 27, 2012
Exhibition Dates: January 27 – February 12
Gallery Hours: 11 – 5 Friday, Saturday, Sunday

At each Art Bazaar event HAN members hold demonstrations of their arts practice in the Livesites tent. Here is the schedule of demonstrations for Art Bazaar 2011:

9am – 11am
Cliff Hosking – will paint a vibrant sunrise-over-water scene in brilliant transparent watercolour.

11am – 12pm
Angie Parkes – mosaics

12 – 1.00
Miranda Earle – fabric printing

1.00 – 2pm
Kate Belton – Kate will demonstrate painting using acrylic inks and mixed media. She will show how to create interesting art using an ink dip pen incorporating paint,
stains and texture mediums.

2 – 3pm Fee Madigan

Applying to be a Stallholder

Applications for the next event will open after we announce our “Call for Applications”.  Applications will be taken via an online form on our website.

If you applied and were granted a stall for the 2011 Art Bazaar, you will not need to go through the full application process, just register your interest when we call for expressions of interest for the next event.  If you did not have an Art Bazaar stall you will need to go through the formal application process.

Further information about applying will be posted on the HAN website and sent out to our database during late December / early January.

Sponsorship

The HAN committee are now in the process of searching for sponsors and benefactors to help fund the administration and promotion of these three new events.
