Magic Starfish is a collaboration between Jacqueline and Kimberlie; we have a great desire to create beautiful pieces of wearable art. We both have artistic families and backgrounds so have assimilated many skills allowing us to experiment with and developed our creativity into wearable art.
We are conscious of every process in the creation of our clothing, from the way the plants are grown to how and where the clothing is made. When we set up our business we did extensive research into sustainable fibres, environmentally friendly dyes and ethical production.
Since we began in 2007 we have noticed a surge in the public’s desire to embrace a more sustainable way of life and now apply their green ethics to their clothing as well as their food. Our range has grown beyond t-shirts to include a variety of sustainable fibres which are ethically made into clothing and home accessories. We are also experimenting with digital tie dye using photos of our hand dyed fabric to create digital mandalas.
We find that people are drawn to our bright colours and although they may not want to wear a tie dye t-shirt they need to fulfil their desire for colour in their lives. To satisfy that urge they choose one of our tea towels, shopping bag, aprons or scarves. Children are instinctively attracted to the bright colours and designs we are able to create, with their Magic Starfish t-shirt becoming their absolute favourite t-shirt.
