Business and Legal Skills Workshop

Newcastle City Council invites members and friends of HAN to a free 'Smart Arts' workshop designed for people working in the cultural sectors.

BUSINESS AND LEGAL SKILLS WORKSHOP will be presented by John Christopher Hindle, practicing solicitor and teacher of law. Topics will include:

• The Law - What is it and how do we find it?
• Empowerment through knowledge of basic business and legal rights
• Intellectual property rights
• Basic contract law and an understanding of common law negligence
• Trade Practices Act - rendering of services and awareness of responsibilities
• Tips for negotiating and managing a good contract
• Where to go for more information

Friday 17 October in the Lovett Gallery, Newcastle Region Library 5.00pm networking 5.30pm - 7.30pm workshop.
