Gwynneth Jones – Artist/ Illustrator

Biography

I was born in Newcastle and have been drawing since a very young age. I attended Newcastle TAFE to complete the Art Certificate in 1984 majoring in printmaking then later graduated from Newcastle University in 1989, majoring in Plant and Wildlife Illustration. Since that time I have done many freelance illustrations and commissions, have exhibited and sold with art groups and at several local markets. My favourite mediums are ink pen and colour pencil, with a dash of gouache. Life drawing is also an important feature of my artistic progression.

My drawings have been appreciated and bought by many for their nostalgic feel and whimsy, as well as marking important occasions and representation of peoples lives.

I am a current member of Hunter Arts Network, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and CBCA Newcastle Branch as I am interested in pursuing children’s book as a home for my illustrating style. I have recently been contracted to illustrate my first children’s picture book due for release in 2015.
