Artist Biography

Business name: Karen Scott Murals

I have had many different careers in my life, with my love of Art and fashion beginning when I was just a child. I studied Visual Arts and Textiles and Design at school and Fashion Retail at TAFE, as I always aspired to be a Fashion Designer.

But after working for 2 years in couture Wedding Dress establishments in Sydney, I returned home to work for Husqvarna, teaching sewing classes and working in retail. From there I enrolled in University where I received Honours in a Bachelor of Education (Visual Arts), majoring in Ceramics. I taught secondary Visual Arts, Photography and Ceramics for nearly 21 years before resigning from teaching in 2014 to begin my business: Karen Scott Murals.

I paint custom pet portraits and murals, while also promoting my business at a number of handmade markets and events on most weekends where I sell miniature hand-sculpted pets and painted portraits, quirky teapots and teacup pet sculptures, pet stones and sculpted “Doggy Dangler” Christmas tree decorations.

I feel so blessed to be able to do something I am passionate about and to run my own business – something very few people get to experience!
