AN INVITATION TO THE FUTURE

Place making is not just the act of building or fixing up a space but a whole process that fosters the creation of vital public destinations: the kind of places where people feel a strong stake in their communities and a commitment to making things better. Simply put, place making capitalises on a local community’s assets, inspiration and potential, ultimately creating good public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being. The Newcastle City Centre Committee invites you to meet and hear from Ethan Kent.
Ethan is from the American organisation Project for Public Spaces.

The organisation is a leader in helping communities and business transform public space into functional and friendly places where people are happy to visit, shop and spend time. Their website showcases some great public spaces and demonstrates the role business and residents can play in revitalising their locality.

Council has invited Ethan to Newcastle to hear his views on how our community might work towards gradually transforming some of our own spaces.
The City Centre Committee is partnering with Council to help business understand how small changes in the public space can help drive business activity and profit.
