Renew Rewind Exhibition

Renew Newcastle is celebrating five years of empty space activation with Renew Rewind, a photographic exhibition featuring the best images from our archives.

We have brought life to 59 otherwise empty properties by supporting 138 arts, creative and community projects – and counting!

The photos demonstrate that with tiny (or often, non-existent) budgets and a lot of heart and hard work, project participants perform minor miracles to make empty spaces come alive with creativity.

We invite you to join us for the exhibition opening to toast the artists, volunteers and community members who have offered their blood, sweat and tears to clean up and activate otherwise empty buildings and help be apart of Newcastle CBD’s renewal.

Opening Night: Friday 28 March, 6-9pm

(coinciding with the Newcastle Night Markets).

Where: The Emporium, 185 Hunter St, Newcastle.

Exhibition runs: 28 March – 10 May.

Opening Hours: Wed 10-4, Thu 10-5, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-4 (till 8pm on 2nd & 4th Fri of the month). Closed Public Holidays.

Opportunity: Are you interested in being a part of the exhibition or opening event set-up as a volunteer? Let us know! Details via this link.

7 New Projects (With Another 2 On The Way)

As a result of the call-out for participants in January we have 7 new projects to welcome this month, with another 2 just around the corner.

There are FOUR new projects at The Emporium, including Jodie Louise Millinery, Floral & Spot, The Workroom and The Project Space – all of whom will be open for business during the Renew Rewind exhibition launch (28 Mar) and Open Day (29 Mar).

Another three projects have launched in two new-to Renew properties. Artist studos Stepping Stone Studios, design studio Made by Ronnoco and photographic studio Sharperstill are now settled in their new digs. For more details click this link.

Another two projects, Dubbleyou + Süko are priming their space at Market Square to open just in time for Open Day. It’s a story many Renew Newcastle participants can relate to – what was going to be a couple of days of painting and ripping up carpet has turned into a marathon spruce up approaching its third week…

Don’t stop ladies, you’re nearly there!
