Griffin Collective embraces handmade leather bag and accessories produced with a passion for preserving the art of hand stitching and leather lacing. My journey to Griffin Collective started with an antique Singer 29K sewing machine. Its delicate balance of nostalgia and functionality infuses my work with a sense of history and tradition. I was able to refurbish this antique sewing machine to start my early work with machine sewn bags. Whilst I have moved to an electric machine, I love using the treadle machine for slow passion projects. Leather craft, particularly in Australia, can embrace sustainability by utilising the by-products of the food production industry. By repurposing the hides of animals that are raised for food, the leather industry can contribute to a more sustainable and circular economy. One of the joys of my work is creating unique pieces that resonate with individuality and personal style.
