Three observant, dedicated and talented, Newcastle artists, Nicola Bolton, Ros Elkin and Eleanor Jane Robinson join forces to bring a much anticipated new exhibition focused on their chosen motif of trees.

Nicola Bolton uses paint to capture atmospheric scenes of trees in the fading evening light, we see the magic and quietness as night falls near her home in Bolwarra. Her meticulously observed drawings, graphite on Beech wood, tell the story of individual trees “which needs to be told” from the Laman Street figs in Newcastle to the birthing tree on the Larapinta trail in the NT.

Ros Elkin uses clay to create flowing organic, ceramic shapes. Vessels which she anticipates will become heirlooms to be passed on down the line from family to family.

Eleanor Jane Robinson makes delicate traceries of fibre and shadow in her exquisite thread drawings based on trees she saw on many long car trips “up north” to visit her first grandchild.

Family Trees will be opened at 6.00pm FRIDAY 14 Nov by local identity LEZIE TILLEY and runs Fri 14 NOV- Sun 30 NOV, 2014. Please join us for drinks and meet the artists.
