First formed in Newcastle over 40 years ago, NCEATA now brings dynamic textile artists of all skill levels to share, learn, network and exhibit. Members come from all over the Hunter region, the Central Coast and Sydney areas. They practise a wide range of techniques to produce fine art pieces, wearable art and enjoy stitching together.

NCEATA members are a vibrant, inclusive and actively supportive group who share expertise, resources and friendship. They hold two meetings/workshops each month creating work in all types of fibres, threads and textiles including embroidery, machine embellishment, braiding, dyeing, fabric painting, wet and dry felting, sewing and beading. At each meeting there is an opportunity to share current work.

NCEATA holds an exhibition each year and currently uses Lake Macquarie Libraries as our space to hold exhibitions. We also hold Textile Taster sessions which gives the community an insight into our group by sharing some short skill based activities for participants to enjoy.
All members receive a monthly newsletter which details the workshop information for each meeting and informs members about upcoming exhibitions and members’ news. There is an extensive library of informative, inspirational books and magazines focusing on textile art and related subjects.
Membership fees are $50 annually. Visitors are always welcome so just turn up to a meeting which is held at 130 Garden Grove Parade, Adamstown in Newcastle each month on the first Monday 10am- 1pm and the third Saturday 1pm – 4pm.

We have a comprehensive website www.nceata.org where you can read details of our next meetings, view members’ work, access our Textile Resources webpage and download an application for NCEATA membership. All contact with the current organising committee is also made through the website or secretary@nceata.org.
