The Newcastle Printmakers Workshop Inc is a community based group of printmakers who work in a variety of printmaking media eg, solar print, intaglio, relief, lithography and screen printing. It is the longest running workshop in Australia. Established in 1979 as a non-profit organization its aims are to:

• provide access to equipment and workshop space for the benefit of practicing artists, students, ex-students and beginners
• develop a public awareness of printmaking, particularly with regards to distinguishing between an original print and a reproduction
• to arrange classes in the techniques of printmaking

Annual membership:

Unemployed/students: $45.00 Employed: $50.00 Benefits include access to workshop space facilities on a low paying basis.

• $20 daily use
• $130 per year, paid in advance, entitles unlimited access to the workshop and facilities [except when workshops are running
• All consumables to be supplied by the member

Facilities:

• A large workshop with two etching presses
• Drying racks
• Lithography press
• Aquatint box
• Darkroom with a large exposure unit for screen printing and metal plate exposure
• Small ultra violet box for small solar plate exposure
• Light box
• Hot plate
• Spacious preparation and printing areas
• Wet area for Silk Screen cleanup, lithography preparation and paper soaking
• Kitchen and toilet facilities
• Rollers, squeegees and screens for use at the workshop
