Art Bazaar is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year and applications for stalls are still open. Be a part of Art Bazaar which has been held every year since 2002!

Drawn from across the Hunter region, the majority of Hunter Arts Network’s wide variety of stallholders are exclusive to Art Bazaar. The locals and visitors who shop at Art Bazaar have discovered their favourite local Hunter makers and keep returning to Art Bazaar to find them. The point of difference with Art Bazaar is that you won’t find many HAN stallholders at other markets – most of HAN’s members will only set up stalls at Art Bazaar.

When Art Bazaar began back in 2002 it was originally held in Laman Street. Art Bazaar started with an idea from Newcastle City Council and this is how Hunter Arts Network was formed. Twenty years ago Art Bazaar began to develop a loyal following and fan base. HAN is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers who have also worked hard to celebrate all modalities of visual arts.

The stall fee is only $70.00 and all stallholders need to apply for a Hunter Arts Network membership. Membership is from $65 per year. All Hunter Arts Network stallholders are accepted after their HAN membership application has been reviewed and approved, ensuring only the highest quality original handmade wares.

We email bump in information to all stallholders within 24 hours before the event which shows what times and where you can drive on, unload, drive off, park your car, return and set up. This information will also be posted on our website and socials at the same time.

Here are some other tips to assist with stall preparation (please note, we don’t stipulate the colour of canopies):
After you have driven on to the park and located your stall, unload your vehicle and then move your vehicle to the on street parking and then come back and start setting up your stall.
Provide your own 3 x 3 metre market tent
Provide your own table
Provide hand sanitizer and wipes
Display your Covid Safe Policy
Charge your Square reader
Bring an extra battery source for your phone
Fill your water weights
Take pictures on your phone of your market set up so you can refer back to pictures of the previous market and also for sharing on socials including ours, and tag #hanartbazaar
Clothing to cover all hot/cold options & sun protection
Tablecloths to cover the tables
Paper carry bags and paper bags (customise these with business cards) for sales
Normally we recommend bringing a float however due to Covid cashless is now preferred
Business cards, flyers, signage
Tissue paper/bubble wrap depending on what you are selling
Display stands/items for your work….you can be creative with this ie old suitcases/timber children’s chairs/jewellery trees that seem to pop up everywhere in home stores etc
Small kit of stationery items ie scissors/safety pins/black marker texta/sticky tape
Pack the car the night before
Leave your day to day handbag at home and only take what is essential for security reasons/bring a small crossover bag for your change/ or bumbag
If you are by yourself tell ALL your friends to drop in and say hello so you at least get a toilet break!
Introduce yourself to your neighbouring stalls
Chains or mesh to hang from the market tent to hang wall art
Collect customer details
Receipts
Plenty of drinking water
If you make clothes of jewellery, wear it on the day
Be doing something with your hands, sewing or painting or other making as people like seeing creative people being creative, it not only creates a topic of conversation but you are not sitting there starring at the customer, freaking them out

In the interests of keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible, acceptance of your stall application is conditional upon your compliance with the following guidelines:
If you are feeling unwell or experience flu-like symptoms, please stay at home.
If you have visited a recently compromised venue or a ‘hot spot’ within the last 14 days, please stay at home.
Please observe 1.5m distance from other stall holders or visitors at all times.
As long as people observe the 1.5m rule wherever possible, walk-in stalls are not permitted
Please consider wearing a mask.
Please provide hand sanitizer at your stall.
Please clean touch points on your display area frequently.
Please have in place your own COVID Safe Policy regarding the handling of your items, clearly displayed on your stall. For example, you might implement a no touching policy, or insist that customers sanitise their hands before and after handling your art.
Please provide electronic payment options for contactless payment.
