Suzi Zglinicki is an artist who lives in the Hunter Region of NSW, exhibiting regularly in both Newcastle and Sydney since 2012. Her semi-abstract artworks are produced in a variety of media. Suzi has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) and a Master of Fine Art from the National Art School in Sydney; and is currently enrolled in a PhD (Fine Art) at the University of Newcastle. Her work is held in private collections across NSW and in the archive of the National Art School. Suzi uses oils, pastels, acrylics, ink and mixed media to create landscapes, portraits, and semi-abstract works.
Through her art Suzi shares the beauty and mystery of nature and her deep concern for the future of the natural environment. She says:
“Although I am predominantly a landscape artist, I explore many natural subjects through painting, printing and mixed media. My current work is inspired by the sublime beauty of the riparian zone and the subtle air of loneliness to be found in an uninhabited landscape. It expresses a moodiness, a sense of longing coming from the land to be kept safe from human greed. I interpret our connection to the earth with impressions of mountains, fog, rivers, trees and the sky above us, as well as spiritual aspects of the Australian landscape such as solitude, fragility and our fear of the unknown.”
