A new artist venture
Inspired by many artists who have opened their studios to the public around Australia, a group of The Junction artists have decided to join in and reveal what lies behind their studio doors. The artists all live in walking distance from each other which allows the visitor to casually stroll between their art studios.
Each studio offers something unique:
- Sophie Mill is swept away by the intensity of landscape painting – www.sophiemill.com.au
- Sally Behrens concentrates on the details of “still life” – www.saatchionline.com/profiles/index/id/88844
- Rieteka Geursen and Frank Murri draw, and sculpt with paper and wood – https://hunterartsnetwork.org/artists/rieteka-geursen/ and https://hunterartsnetwork.org/artists/frank-murri/
- Helene Leane, Jeanne Harrison and Ros Elkin are specialist printmakers, with Ros also a master of ceramics – www.heleneleane.moonfruit.com
The Junction Art Crawl is offered for only 4 Saturdays during 2011 between 11am and 4 pm:
- 25th June
- 27th August
- 29th October
It is an opportunity for the public to appreciate how an artist creates and how
valuable an artist can be to their local community.
The studio addresses are:
Sophie Mill: 1 Smith Street, Hamilton South
Helene Leane: 36 Cram St, Merewether
Sally Behrens: 21 Elliot St, Merewether
Rieteka Geursen and Frank Murri: 110 Gordon Ave, Hamilton South.

Such a great concept! I love the idea of the autumn walk and sharing your works with my little girls. Will be there with some very inquisitive daughters!
