HAVE YURT – WILL TRAVEL

The Australian National Yurt Project @ Summer ART BAZAAR on 6 December

In 1997, international felt artist Martien van Zuilen made a wish; to travel to Mongolia to learn first-hand about the origins of hand-made felt, the oldest textile known to humankind.

Back in Australia she founded the National Yurt Project: a community arts project aimed to build a full-scale Mongolian Yurt with the help of many feltmakers, including from the wider Newcastle region!

Since its completion the Yurt Project has traversed the vast and varied Australian continent and visited countless communities in every state.

The Yurt will be on display at the NEWCASTLE ART BAZAAR on December 6th.

Come and visit the Yurt at the ART BAZAAR.

Be inspired by this unique community arts project that started with the making of a simple wish!
