Hunter Arts Network Art Bazaar

Dianna Kellerman

I started my love of art as a child, playing in mud, drawing and making things with my aunt who was an artist. As a late starter in painting I ventured into exploring different media when I moved from Sydney to Lake Macquarie and now Newcastle. My love of texture has been a constant. Knitting with my grandmother, crochet with my mother, I discovered weaving with natural fibres in my 20s. Exploring and discovering ways of combining my love of fibres with painting has been exciting. Along with the emotional expression colour enables me to express each art work is a story, what I am wanting to express at that time. I teach weaving in natural fibres and painting in various media including children's classes. I feel truly honoured to have been asked to complete various commission pieces in both painting and weaving. I have been fortunate to have exhibited in Coldstream Gallery Ulmarra, Ferry Artists Wisemans Ferry, Lake Macquarie Open Studios 2020 and 2021, Finite Gallery Caves Beach, Art Lovers Movement Cooranbong, as well as the Easter Show 2019. I have been selected as a finalist in The Art Room Gallery with my woven sculpture ‘Nesting Bird', Blackstone Gallery's Works on Paper 2020 Blue exhibition for my mixed media 'Mirage' and recently won a commended award for my mixed media 'Sea Spray' at the Dobell Art prize 2021.
