Drawing inspiration from the elements wood, earth, fire, water and metal, seven local female artists (Stephanie Berick, Jill Campbell, Eugenia Dunlevie, Shelagh Lummis, Cath McCarthy, Beverly Leggett Simmons, Penny Warner-Smith) take viewers on an artistic journey through landscapes impacted by fire, drought and time; human activity; nostalgia and fantasy.

From various professional backgrounds, these women began painting together several years ago and are regular exhibitors in Newcastle. This is their first group exhibition. Strong, vibrant colours are characteristics of the work using mixed media oils, pastels and acrylics. Artwork in the exhibition ranges from work on large canvases and panels, to smaller works on paper.

Five Elements will be open from February 12th to February 28th, 2010.
