NPW is offering workshops on Saturdays in a variety of media. These are an opportunity to learn new skills and meet other members of the Newcastle Printmakers. Create original handmade prints!

All Workshops – 10 am to 4 pm on specified dates

1. DRYPOINT ETCHING with Megan Lewis

A simple but effective intaglio process using acetate plates. This is a great course for beginners wanting to learn the skill of intaglio printmaking without acids.

2. LINO PRINTING with Samantha Powell

Great introduction to relief printmaking. A starting point for further printmaking techniques.

3. CONTINUOUS MONOPRINTING with Paul Dart

Continuous Monoprinting is a fantastic process of print making that is easy, fun and has a high degree of chance. This is a reductive process where the image on the plate, slowly reveals itself after successive prints. The participant will leave this course with numerous images, no two of which will be the same. No printmaking experience required.

Participants will learn to use the silkscreen in a non-traditional, exciting, improvisational manner. Using everyday, easily accessible materials like water soluble crayons and wax, temporary and semi-permanent image creation techniques are explored using the silkscreen on fabric.
The course delves into inspiring colour and design combinations and includes multi layered patterning and texture techniques.
For those who love colour and experimental image creation this class is for you! All levels welcome.
